SPECIAL PROJECTS
Greensburg, Kansas
Mid-Kansas Council, along with the Kansas Reading Association, would like to assist teachers in Greensburg to rebuild their classrooms. Be sure to be at our first meeting on Sept. 27 if you would like to donate to this fantastic cause!
Possible Continuing Service Projects:
Ashby House

Two years ago, Mid-Kansas Council organized books and resources to develop a children's reading room at Salina's Ashby House. We continue to add to it, including donating each year's set of Bill Martin, Jr. books.

Books for Babes
This is continuing project in which a board book is presented for babies born during READ week in January in Salina and McPherson hospitals. Mid-Kansas Reading Council purchases 40 books, which have a label recognizing KRA, to distribute between hospitals. Along with the book, KRA provides a pamphlet emphasizing the importance of reading to young children.
Book Boxes in Laundromats
This is a new project we'd like to organize. We'd like to gather children's books and resources to place in laundromats in our participating counties.
