2016-2017 PROFESSIONAL BOOK STUDY FORUM
This year’s book will be Steven Layne’s book, In Defense of Read-Aloud: Sustaining Best Practice.
KRA members are invited to form small book-study groups within their individual schools/districts to read and implement the ideas presented in the book. All participants must be KRA members and registered their group during the fall of the 2016-2017 school year.
STUDY GUIDES: Study guides will be provided for each group to complete and submit throughout the study. Groups will set their own meeting schedules to cover the study guides throughout the 2016-2017 school year. Each group will be required to keep a log of their meeting time and submit verification forms. These will be sent to group leaders and are to be emailed back to Susan each time the group meets.
COLLEGE CREDIT: Individuals may also enroll for one hour (1) of college credit, which will be available in June, 2017 through Pittsburg State University. Enrollment information will be available in March, 2017.
OPPORTUNITY TO MEET THE AUTHOR: The author of the book, Steven Layne, will be the keynote speaker at the fall KRA conference, Oct. 30, 2017 in Topeka, KS. Steve will also sign his professional and children’s books. Those who complete the book study will have a special opportunity to meet with Steve to discuss the book and participate in a more personal conversation with him at the 2017 conference.
